Independent analytical review for a road user satisfaction survey

This report is the key output from the study commissioned by Transport Focus to advise on the methodology for the new road user survey. It is structured in six chapters, considering in turn:

  • a review of existing relevant satisfaction surveys and the factors that have been identified by previous studies as shaping the road user experience
  • findings from stakeholder interviews undertaken to consult on expectations about the new survey 
  • the overall approach to survey design and sampling
  • considerations in questionnaire design
  • the design of the pilot
  • the conclusions of the review.
