A tale of two stations

Greenhithe station in North Kent is one of the first of Network Rail’s ‘kit’ modular stations. Modern, bright, clean with the basics that passengers need (including two members of staff!), lifts and good information. Perhaps the ‘kit’ design is not ideal when architectural sensitivities are in play, but would suit many locations.

Just up the line Dartford – you cannot believe you are on the same network. A station from the 1970s, with grime seemingly designed in. Not really big enough, dingy, very old information screens, yet actually a really busy station. Just ripe for a slightly bigger kit station? With ticket prices soaring in Kent, passengers in Dartford deserve better than this.
