Give me a reference/bright spots of the British Transport System part 345

Rail ticket on departure machines are great. Have used them hundreds of time, always worked, avoids queues and usually plenty of floorwalkers around as well. However, is it me, or are the reference numbers they use a bit counterintuitive? RH4X8ZX9 – takes an age to type in on a QWERTY keyboard. Could this be simplified?
