East Midlands Trains short-term ‘direct award’ franchise – Transport Focus response

17 September 2015

Commenting on the Government’s decision to award East Midlands Trains (EMT) a new short-term franchise, Transport Focus’s passenger director, David Sidebottom, said:

“Passengers using East Midlands Trains will welcome clarity about their train services over the next two and a half years. They told us that their key priorities are value for money, frequent and reliable services with seats available. It is important that the operator keeps a focus on these important aspects. Free Wi-Fi on trains is a high priority for EMT passengers, so travellers to London will welcome this provision when it is delivered. However, other passengers will be asking when they will also benefit.”
