London Midland announcement on ticket offices – Passenger Focus response

28 March 2013

Anthony Smith, chief executive of Passenger Focus, said:
“Passengers tell us that when they go to a station, they value knowing that there will be staff on hand to help with enquiries and to provide a sense of security. We are disappointed that four stations will now lose ticket offices, and others will have severely reduced opening hours – especially following the almost 18000 objections that were received.

“However, we are pleased that government listened to our evidence, and the views of passengers, and provided some conditions to lessen the impact of these changes –  specifically, extra ticket machines, shelters and signs, and more ramps and lifts to make it easier for less mobile people to make their own way around.”
