Network Rail on course to hit efficiency targets – our Chief Executive responds

Today the Office of Rail Regulation has released its annual assessment of Network Rail efficiency.

Anthony Smith, chief executive of Passenger Focus, said:
“”Passengers are about to be hit with another inflation-busting fare rise in the new year, and just 42 per cent tell us they are satisfied with the value for money of their ticket, so any savings made in the industry are to be welcomed.

“It is critical that these savings are now passed on to passengers, and that industry continues to look for ways to become more efficient without impacting on the things we passengers care about – safety, reliability and being able to get a seat.”
