Road user preferences for investment in England’s motorways and major ‘A’ roads

Transport Focus surveyed road users to understand their preferences when it came to investment in England’s motorways and major ‘A’ roads.

We asked whether investment should mainly be in a small number of large-scale projects, or in a large number of small-scale projects. We also asked about preferences for the type of project.

Two-thirds of those expressing a preference favoured a large number of small-scale projects. Projects to improve safety were the top pick, followed by those to make journey times more consistent.
