Rail replacement bus and coach services – correspondence with rail industry

Transport Focus is concerned that operation of planned rail replacement bus and coach services may not be as reliable as passengers deserve.  And also that the measurement of performance in this area may be insufficient to ensure that passengers’ interests are protected.

Transport Focus wrote to the Rail Delivery Group in April 2023 raising the issue. You can read our email, the Rail Delivery Group’s reply and our subsequent letter to the Department for Transport below.

We will continue to press the rail industry until we are satisfied that operation of planned rail replacement services is robustly measured and transparently reported.
