Today the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, announced a £6.9 billion boost to England’s public transport infrastructure, dedicated to improving England’s trains, tram, bus and cycle projects.
Further information on the spending plan will be announced at next week’s Budget and Spending Review.
David Sidebottom, director at the independent watchdog Transport Focus, said:
“The announcement made by the Chancellor today is welcome news. Investing in a range of local transport and active travel connections across England’s big city regions is sensible and addresses current passenger priorities identified by our own research.”
