Getting to the airport by coach: new report and conference

11 February 2019

Planning a half-term holiday and yet to decide how you’re going to get to the airport? When was the last time you travelled by coach?

The government wants to increase the numbers using public transport for getting to and from airports. With UK airports acting as major interchanges for coach passengers, and scheduled coach operations carrying over 25 million journeys each year in the UK, Transport Focus wanted to better understand what users think of surface transport to airports – particularly as coach is an option for many such journeys.

In partnership with Heathrow Airport and the Department for Transport, new Transport Focus research looked at two issues:

  • on airports: what drives choice of airport and how decisions about surface access to airports (include use of coach) are made
  • around coach use more generally: where coach fits into the considerations set for longer journeys and what are passengers’ experiences and perceptions of coach travel.

Join us on 1 March to learn more about this exciting new research and join the debate. Come and hear from Thomas Ableman Snap, Mark Venables Megabus and other speakers from Heathrow Airport, Pick Me Up, National Express, and Transport Focus discussing how to get more people to choose coach.

The event is being held at the Heathrow Academy. Register if you would like to attend.
