New Greater Anglia franchise begins – our response

Commenting on the start of the new rail franchise in East Anglia, Transport Focus chief executive Anthony Smith said:

“Abellio will need to work hard during this new franchise to deliver on its ambitious plans. Passengers will welcome the much-needed new trains, automatic delay compensation, timetable improvements and the strong emphasis on punctuality. Part-time commuters will keenly await the introduction of new types of tickets next autumn. There are many other improvements to be delivered, too.

“We will be working closely with the operator to help it focus on what passengers need. Our boosted passenger satisfaction survey is built into the targets for the new contract and so Abellio has strong incentives to improve things that are most important to its passengers.”
