Passenger Voice August 2015: Can public transport ever offer a better choice?

30 July 2015

Passenger Voice readers are invited to join us for a conference to discuss the topic ‘Can public transport ever offer a better choice?’.

The event will be held on Wednesday 16 September at Surgeons’ Hall, Edinburgh. We will discuss how public transport can represent an attractive option for a door-to-door journey. Keynote speaker Derek Mackay MSP, Minister for Transport and Islands, will open the conference. Our other confirmed speakers are:

  • Phil Verster – managing director of ScotRail
  • Lesley Hinds – transport convenor for The City of Edinburgh Council
  • Martin Dorchester – chief executive of Caledonian MacBrayne.

Also that day there will be a public Board Meeting at the Carlton Hotel at 10am. This is an opportunity to meet our Board members and senior staff, and to learn more about our work. We will also be joined by Phil Verster, managing director of ScotRail and Peter Strachan, managing director of Caledonian Sleeper to look at how their new franchises are performing.

On the evening of Tuesday 15 September Patrick Harvie MSP hosts a Transport Focus reception at the Scottish Parliament, with a short talk from the chief executive of Greener Journeys, Claire Haigh giving a short talk.
