Passenger Voice December 2015: Christmas engineering works

27 November 2015

Did you know that there will be significant disruption taking place to services running over the Christmas period?

Transport Focus is working to make sure passengers get all the information needed during disruption at Christmas.

Major stations such as London Bridge, London Charring Cross and London Cannon Street will close from the end of service on Christmas Eve until 4 January.

GTR services (Southern, Thameslink and Gatwick Express) will be significantly disrupted during the same period, due to Network Rail works in the Purley area. This will mean that those travelling to and from London Victoria will also face disruption, with Gatwick Express services suspended throughout the holiday period.

We have shared research, highlighting passenger experiences and priorities during engineering works, with operators to help shape the information that will be going out to passengers. We have also highlighted the importance of passengers being able to easily find out what the works will mean for them.

We would welcome any feedback you might have on the way the forthcoming engineering works are being communicated to passengers. We are monitoring this and will be reporting back to operators on areas for improvement.

We would urge anybody who is travelling during the Christmas break to check their journey on www.nationalrail.co.uk.
