Passenger Voice January 2016: Christmas engineering works – what you need to know
21 December 2015
Did you know that there will be significant disruption taking place to services running over the Christmas period?
Transport Focus is working to make sure passengers get all the information needed during disruption at Christmas.
Major stations such as London Bridge, London Charing Cross and London Cannon Street will close from the end of service on Christmas Eve until 4 January.
GTR services (Southern, Thameslink and Gatwick Express) will be significantly disrupted during the same period, due to Network Rail works in the Purley area. This will mean that those travelling to and from London Victoria will also face disruption, with Gatwick Express services suspended throughout the holiday period.
We would welcome any feedback you might have on the way the forthcoming engineering works are being communicated to passengers. We are monitoring this and will be reporting back to operators on areas for improvement.
Tell us how your train operator handles the disruption. Was there enough publicity and advanced warning? Were there staff on hand to help you? If you encountered helpful staff on the ground – tell us.
Tweet us using #christmasworks and let us know how disruption was handled during your journey.
We would urge anybody who is travelling during the Christmas break to check their journey on www.nationalrail.co.uk.
