Rail Reparation Fund – Transport Focus response
01 December 2015
The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) has announced a new £4.1m ‘Rail Reparation Fund’ to directly benefit passengers affected by poor performance on Thameslink, Southern and Gatwick Express services, in particular those travelling through London Bridge station.
David Sidebottom, passenger director at the independent watchdog Transport Focus, said:
“Some passengers in the London and south east area have suffered frequent delays and cancelled trains this year. We welcome the regulator taking action, and it is a positive step that this money will be spent on schemes to directly improve the experience of passengers.
“Passengers just want a railway they can rely on. However, where there is further disruption, industry must be more proactive in letting passengers know when they are able to claim compensation, and making it simple to do so.”
