Transport Focus statement on new Operation Stack measures

Anthony Smith, Transport Focus’s chief executive, said:

“Road users in Kent will be relieved to hear that there is now a ‘Plan B’ for when cross-Channel rail and ferry services are disrupted and Operation Stack is ‘on’. We welcome this and recognise the effort put in to finding a solution. However, the success of this plan will depend on it being delivered carefully and competently with all road users’ needs at its heart.

“In the meantime Highways England and others must make sure they provide road users with clear, reliable and consistent information on what they should do and what travel options are on offer.”
