Transport User Voice – June 2023 – Your Bus Journey

31 May 2023

Positive initial results

Our new bus passenger survey Your Bus Journey is on the road and is speaking to more passengers than ever – with more than 10,000 already having their say.

The survey includes 35 areas in England (outside London) and most of Scotland. By the end of the year it will be one of the largest surveys of bus passenger satisfaction in Great Britain with more than 36,000 passengers involved.

We’ll be publishing results from the first half of this year in the autumn. In the meantime we are sharing some of the emerging findings with the participating bus operators, local authorities and Transport Scotland. First to emerge are passenger comments on what they thought was good, bad, or what else stood out about their journey. These are being fed back immediately so that partners can start to put in place changes based on passengers most recent journeys.

More recently, provisional results for key areas such as overall journey satisfaction and satisfaction with waiting times and value for money are starting to come in. Local authorities are able to access their data and results online as part of this new survey – reducing the time needed for them to incorporate changes into services, make bids for funding or to solve issues and problems as they are arising.

While there is plenty for us to do on the 2023 survey, we are already receiving enquiries from other local authorities about joining the survey in 2024, so we’re looking forward to speaking to more passengers as part of the survey next year.
