Midland Metro Tram Passenger Survey – 2013

27 June 2013

Passenger research has revealed 90 per cent overall passenger satisfaction on Midland Metro trams (West Midlands – Centro area). We also found that satisfaction with trams is consistently higher than that recorded for most bus and rail journeys in the area.

Over 650 passengers participated in Passenger Focus’s pilot Tram Passenger Survey (TPS) The research also found that satisfaction with trams is consistently higher than that recorded for most bus and rail journeys in the area.

Anti-social behaviour experienced was lower on the tram (eight per cent) than on the bus (17 per cent) – particularly for the 16-34 age group (eight per cent and 21 per cent respectively).

The research also identified a number of areas for improvement such as faster journey times, more capacity, better provision of hand/grab rails on board the tram, and conductors being more informed about delays and alternative means of transport when there was disruption.
