Strikes on Northern, Merseyrail and Southern railways – Transport Focus response

David Sidebottom, director of the independent watchdog, Transport Focus, said:

“Northern and Merseyrail passengers will be disappointed that there will be strikes on Monday – the first industrial action on those lines for years.

“These industrial relations problems are being dumped on passengers who may have to cancel plans or endure miserable journeys. It is crucial that all parties have discussions to resolve this matter without bringing the railway to a standstill.

“Passengers need plenty of advance information about the strikes, what services will be running to allow them to plan their journeys during this uncertain time. They also need to know how they can claim compensation.”
