Grand National day rail strikes – Transport Focus response

Following the breakdown in talks between the RMT union and train companies and strike action now confirmed for Saturday across Southern, Northern and Merseyrail networks Transport Focus director David Sidebottom, said:

“Yet more strikes are being dumped on passengers who may have to cancel plans or endure miserable journeys.”

“Racegoers heading to the Grand National using Merseyrail will need plenty of information about what services will be running to allow them to plan their journeys during this uncertain time. Staff should be on hand to signpost where to go and what do.”

“It is vital that all parties in this dispute get back around the table to resolve this matter without bringing the railway to a standstill.”
