Prime Minister pledges new Manchester-Leeds rail route

Responding to the Prime Minister’s pledge for a new Manchester-Leeds rail route, Anthony Smith, chief executive of the independent watchdog Transport Focus, said:

“Passengers will welcome this new investment in the Trans-Pennine rail route.

“Transport Focus is pleased to see that Prime Minister is listening to what passengers want – better day-to-day reliability and a better chance of getting a seat.

“This will improve the passenger experience and enable more people to choose more sustainable travel in future.”
