Scotrail timetable changes – watchdog responds

19 May 2022

Yesterday Scotrail confirmed its emergency timetable to tackle recent disruption.

Robert Samson, senior stakeholder manager at the independent watchdog Transport Focus, said:

“Passengers have faced significant delays and disruption. A reduced timetable is a pragmatic response to help boost reliability but ScotRail must run as many services as practical. We reminded Scotrail that it is key that first and last services must be protected. Passengers who relied on late trains, especially those doing shift work, will be disappointed to hear some of them have been cut leaving them with limited options to get home.

“All the parties need to get round the table to resolve this issue and get trains running again. And in the short term we’d urge Scotrail to look again at removing these last services.”
