All change in Birmingham

26 June 2012

On 22 July 2012 one of the biggest upheavals in British bus services starts to take place. With the closure of Corporation Street to allow the tram to run to the revamped Birmingham New Street Station, hundreds of thousands of bus passengers are going to have their journeys disrupted.

The plan is that passengers will go to an interchange at five points around the city centre.  There will be more walking into the city centre.  The impact of this on passengers is not yet clear.  However, in the Bus Passenger Survey we carried out in Birmingham last year and this spring, we have set a benchmark to gauge change.  Let’s hope for bus passengers’ sake it is a positive change.
