Creatures of habit

Us passengers are real creatures of habit. Watching commuters pour off a Cross Country train at Macclesfield it is amazing how many people have clearly got on in exactly the right place to ensure a good position in the race up the steps to get out of the station.

Pleasing commuters is difficult – often it seems like the job of the transport industry is more about not displeasing them. Stick to your promises, run on time, give a chance of a seat and no surprises. Keep it regular, keep it boring!
