Eyes down, the results are in! Bus passengers have their say
07 March 2012
21,000 bus passengers, spread across 23 areas of England outside of London, have delivered their verdict on their bus services – we have just published the latest wave of our Bus Passenger Survey. The results? It is pretty good on the whole with scores for overall satisfaction ranging from 79% to 91%. However, the overall scores mask interesting and important variations. Value for money ratings range in different areas sprawled from 39% to 68% among fare-paying passengers. The next level down shows even bigger variations when you look at individual bus companies – value for money scores range even more widely.
There is a huge amount of data packed into this report – go and have a look on our website and see how your bus service compares. Don’t forget this is not general stuff about what people think about bus services, but specific, consumer research designed to stimulate action – ‘how was the journey you just went on’ is the basic question. This information should really help operators, passenger representatives and government target their resources to where they are needed most to bring the poorer performing areas up. In some areas it is already doing this – Centro and National Express have already drawn up plans to deal with some of the issues raised.
