1310 Birmingham New Street to London train. Midday for goodness sake should be quiet? Standing room only until Rugby. Standing in standard that is. First class pretty much empty. Nothing wrong with First Class – if folk want to pay more for more, great – it helps keep the whole train on the rails. But when it is clearly at the expense of the majority something is wrong. Time to take out a first class carriage? Trains are so inflexible this seems difficult but it must be a feature of future designs. Keep the interiors flexible like aircraft ones.
