Neat and tidy

It’s been a long time since I headed south from Balham towards Crystal Palace through Streatham Hill, West Norwood and Gipsy Hill. Lots of station improvements along the way – new access at Streatham Hill, improved lighting, new shelters and shiny paint everywhere. What a difference – simple stuff – but the look and feel of the stations has been transformed. Would this have all happened if these things not been specified in the franchise? Maybe, because I think Southern do care about these things, but it certainly made certain. Now, what about Balham?
