One small step

I was down at Clapham Junction the other night. Great to see the new lifts in and the new entrance from St John’s Hill now open. Will really help accessibility at this most problematic of busy stations – our recent research shows that the underpass is the key priority for improvement – these changes should help take some of the pressure off that dank place. Of course, what is really needed is a total rebuild. Mired in the planning system big changes seem a long way off while day in, day out, passengers have a grim time. Big stations get lots of attention. Small stations get lots of local attention. The medium sized, but very busy stations like East Croydon, Luton and Tottenham Hale need a lot of care and attention in the coming years.
