Palace of varieties?

20 January 2011

Now the London Overground uses Crystal Palace as one of it terminals even more life has been breathed back into this wonderful station. When the old booking hall had a fortune spent on it a few years back I did wonder whether, rather than restoring Victorian staircases, putting in lifts might be  good idea, but the large scale of this extraordinary location (a junction station placed just before a major tunnel) now looks right again as the station feels much busier. It seems like there is usually an Overground train waiting in the platform – just what you want on a cold day!
