Small can be beautiful – C2C and its passenger focus

11 April 2013

Down to Southend on a bitterly cold day for an opportunity to see c2c in action.

Even if you provide all the caveats about it being a relatively small, focused operation, with few other operators around, good trains and a simple network – it is still impressive.

The peak-hour trains coming in to Fenchurch arrived and were got out of the way like clockwork. Cleaning teams descended on the trains going back out and did a thorough job. Very clear signage and passenger information. Some stations need some TLC but all very clean. No wonder they score so well with passengers in our National Passenger Survey.

Also they are not just serving the leafy ‘burbs. Some quite gritty places on the route and no doubt it all might feel a bit different after dark. Overall good.
