Surface access to airports and coach use

01 March 2019

Scheduled coach operators carry over 25 million journeys each year in the UK. Airports act as major interchanges for coach passengers, and the Government wants to increase the numbers using public transport to reach or leave an airport.

To better understand what users made of surface transport to airports – particularly as coach is an option for many such journeys – Transport Focus has undertaken research (in partnership with Heathrow Airport and the Department for Transport) that examined two issues:

  • on airports: what drives choice of airport and how decisions about surface access to airports (include use of coach) are made
  • around coach use more generally: where coach fits into the considerations set for longer journeys and what are passengers’ experiences and perceptions of coach travel.

You are invited to join this event at Heathrow at 11am on 1 March to learn more about this exciting new research and to hear from a panel of speakers including:

  • senior representatives from UK coach operators
  • Heathrow Airport
  • Transport Focus.

Address: Heathrow Academy, Longford, Hounslow TW6 2AP
