£170m fund to encourage more people to take the bus
06 February 2020
Commenting on the £170m fund to encourage more people to take the bus, David Sidebottom, director at the independent watchdog Transport Focus, said:
“To help more people choose bus it’s essential that services turn up on time and offer good value for money so passengers will welcome hearing more detail on how the investment will benefit them.
“Our new bus passenger priorities research confirms that passengers want a frequent, punctual and reliable service running to more places that offers value for money. Bus lanes, more integration with rail and other priority measures are welcome steps to help encourage more people to Give Bus a Go.
“Operators and local authorities must work to make buses a more attractive and sustainable choice for both new and existing passengers, who we know from our new research want to make more of their journeys by bus.”
