All-lane running motorways progress report – Transport Focus comment

Following publication of the first year progress report on the all-lane running motorways stocktake, Transport Focus chief executive Anthony Smith commented:

“Road users will welcome the commitments made in this progress report. They tell us they have concerns about breaking down on an all-lane running motorway, so will be pleased that the technology to quickly spot stopped vehicles will now be delivered sooner than planned.

“In the meantime, speedy manual detection of stopped vehicles and displaying the ‘red X’ quickly should be high priorities for Highways England.”
