Aslef and RMT rail strike disruption

31 August 2023

Commenting on travel disruption on 1 and 2 September due to two days of planned industrial action, Transport Focus chief executive Anthony Smith, said:

“Another frustrating two days for rail passengers coming up. The two sides must keep talking and explore all options to find a deal. Passengers are losing faith in the railway as a reliable way to get about – and they may never come back.”

Trains drivers belonging to Aslef are on strike tomorrow, Friday 1 September, followed by RMT members on Saturday 2 September.

With drivers not working the passenger impact is generally worse on Friday. Full details are available on National Rail Enquiries.

Strikes are taking place in England only, although not affecting Elizabeth line, Grand Central, Hull Trains, London Overground, Lumo or Merseyrail. ScotRail and Transport for Wales services are largely unaffected.
