Department for Transport appoints new Member to the Transport Focus Board

Transport Focus is pleased to announce the appointment of Sandra Witzel to its Board.

Sandra is an experienced company director, board trustee, committee member and chief marketing officer with public and private sector experience in the UK and internationally. She brings together professional expertise in transport technology and lived experience of disability, with an award-winning profile as influential advocate and speaker for accessibility, diversity and inclusion. She is a board trustee of the Research Institute for Disabled Consumers UK, co-founder of Women in Mobility UK, and Ambassador for the #DiversityInTransport network, an initiative by the European Commission.

Commenting on the appointment, Nigel Stevens, Chair of Transport Focus said: ‘I am delighted to welcome Sandra to Transport Focus as a member of our Board. She brings with her great experience and expertise, especially in the field of vulnerable transport users; she will help ensure that we deliver on the commitments we have made in our recently published three-year Business Plan, making an impact for all transport users’.

1. This appointment was made by the Secretary of State for Transport within the provisions of Section 19 and Schedule 5 of the Railways Act 2005, as amended. The appointment is regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments and was made in accordance with the Governance Code on Public Appointments.
