Great Western rail investment – Transport Focus response

Responding to today’s update on the programme of rail investment in the Great Western route Anthony Smith,  Transport Focus chief executive, said:

“Passengers will be disappointed by this delay, which follows years of engineering works, crowded carriages and above-inflation fares increases.

“Long-term plans and investment are important and welcome, and passengers have put up with much inconvenience in the expectation of a better, more reliable, and more comfortable rail service. Passengers will now want a clear plan they can trust, setting out exactly which improvements Network Rail will actually deliver and by when.”
