Making claiming for train delays easier

15 December 2021

Commenting on the new Office of Rail and Road train operator delay compensation licence condition, Transport Focus chief executive Anthony Smith, said:

“Too often passengers are left in the dark about their right to claim compensation on a delayed train. It’s high time it was made easier for passengers to get what they are entitled to.

“These measures will help make it easier to claim. Once set up, Great British Railways must go further and make the process automated for passengers with ‘one-click’ compensation.”

Background

Transport Focus launched its Make Delay Pay campaign when our research found that just a third of people claimed what they were entitled to, often as they weren’t aware or found it too much of a hassle.
