May bank holiday engineering works – Transport Focus response

02 May 2024

Responding to Network Rail’s May bank holiday engineering work plans, Natasha Grice, Director at the independent watchdog Transport Focus, said:

“People understand that investment in maintenance and improvement is necessary. What’s important is that it’s done in a way that minimises the impact on passengers.

“Our research shows that passengers’ first priority is to understand what disruption means for their journeys, when it is happening and whether they will need to adjust their travel plans. Passengers will need reliable, clear and accurate information from train operators so that they can plan their journeys with confidence.

“We encourage passengers to check before they travel and to claim compensation if they are affected by disruption.”
