Northern and TransPennine rail services: latest
27 February 2015
Today the Department for Transport has published documents setting out what it wants potential operators to provide on the Northern and TransPennine rail franchises.
David Sidebottom, director of the independent watchdog Passenger Focus, said:
“Passengers will be keen to see what government is asking potential operators to give them in terms of amount of services, seats and staff on the ground. Our research shows that capacity is the key issue on both of these services, and the quality of the trains on the Northern network is of particular concern.
“We will now be reviewing the documents in detail to see how well they reflect the passenger view, and whether passenger satisfaction is built into the targets.”
