Passenger Voice January 2016: Railway of the future?

21 December 2015

We’re continuing our work on the railway of the future by talking to people that that matter most: the passengers.

After a successful first year, our HS2 passenger panel was extended for another year.

The most recent panel meeting heard from Andrew McNaughton, Technical Director of HS2, with an update on the latest progress. We also had a presentation from HS2 on its key mega trends. These are the big changes that are affecting society as a whole now and in the future.

The panel discussed how each of the different mega trends would affect future station and train design.

There were six different HS2 ‘surgeries’ on topics such as fares, station design and landscape and archaeology.

After the first year, we published a summary of the findings and will publish the second year’s findings in spring 2016.
