Passenger Voice March 2016: Govia Thameslink Railway ticket offices consultation

04 March 2016

Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) has proposed changes to how ticket offices will be staffed at over 80 of its Great Northern, Thameslink and Southern stations. Full details of the changes and which stations will be affected can be found on the Thameslink website here.

The company is obliged to consult with Transport Focus, and is also seeking comments from passengers on proposals for the stations affected. A full list of stations (excluding London) can be found here. Other stations affected by these proposals are dealt with by London TravelWatch.

GTR is proposing to change ticket office opening hours at 45 ticket offices at 44 stations and to make changes at a further 39 station ticket offices. It also proposes to introduce ‘station hosts’ at most stations to provide customer service, information, travel assistance and help for customers buying tickets.

It is proposed that the changes will happen between June and September 2016. No ticket office opening hours will be changed until the station hosts are appointed and in place.

Before GTR submits its proposal to the Department for Transport, we would encourage you to take part in the consultation which ends 14 March 2016. Please remember to state which station or stations you are commenting on.

You can email your response here or write to us at Transport Focus, Freepost (RTEH-XAGE-BYKZ) PO Box 5594 Southend on Sea SS1 9PZ.

Transport Focus will review all comments received and will make a recommendation to the Department for Transport based on these and other information received.
