East Anglia franchise

Abellio has been announced as the winning bidder for the next East Anglia franchise contract starting in October. The proposals include a brand new fleet of trains, faster journey times and free Wi-Fi for all passengers at stations and on trains. There are also plans for new ticketing initiatives and automatic Delay Repay for season and advance ticket holders.

More details, including specific changes planned for the different East Anglia routes, are available here.

South Western

Transport Focus has accepted an invitation from the Department for Transport (DfT) to provide reports on bidders’ plans for better stations and delivering good customer experience in the next South Western franchise.

Later this month our team will be reviewing proposals to help the DfT as it makes a decision on the award of the new contract.

Wales and Borders

Transport Focus staff were in Wales recently to continue pressing for passenger benefits as plans for the next franchise are developed. We met members of the Welsh Government, Transport for Wales and Network Rail to ensure the passenger is at the heart of the franchise. Click here to find out more.

Franchises in the pipeline

We have been keeping in touch with the DfT as it continues to work on a number of the new franchises in the pipeline. We have recently held meetings about the West Midlands, West Coast, South Eastern and East Midlands competitions.
