Real-time information for bus passengers

Bus passengers could be set to receive receive better real-time information following the launch of a consultation on legally requiring bus operators to share their data on bus routes.

David Sidebottom, passenger director at Transport Focus, said:

“Our research shows that getting buses to turn up on time is one of the key factors to improving passengers’ satisfaction.

“Better access to real-time passenger information is a welcome step for passengers providing more accurate door-to-door journey planning.”

Background

The Bus Passenger Survey showed that the number of passengers satisfied with the punctuality of their bus ranged from 63% to 83% per cent.
