Second closure of the M25 – Transport Focus comment

Ahead of the second full closure of the M25 this weekend, Louise Collins, Director at the independent watchdog Transport Focus, said:

“This weekend’s closure of the M25 is part of important improvement works but it will inevitably cause disruption to some journeys and plans.

What matters to road users is that they have the information they need before they travel and that any delays are kept to a minimum.

We’ve been speaking to National Highways to make sure that road users have clear, useful information about the closure and diversion routes. It’s encouraging to see good advice available for passengers travelling to and from Heathrow and Gatwick airports, as well as the inclusion of an HGV specific diversion route for this second closure.

We’ll be monitoring what happens this weekend and will continue sharing any feedback with National Highways ahead of the planned future closures.”
