Transport Focus comments on the August bank holiday engineering works

25 August 2017

Anthony Smith, Chief Executive of the transport user watchdog, Transport Focus, commenting on the August bank holiday engineering works said:

“Rail passengers and drivers could face disruptions to their travel as a result of extensive engineering on our railways or exceptionally busy roads.  Our research shows that passengers need information before, during and after the works. They need to know how these works will affect them and what choices they have.

“Also having plenty of visible staff on hand to guide passengers and answer questions is key. Investment in the railways is needed and welcome but how the works are done is key to building trust.”

Since the engineering works started on 5 August at Waterloo station, Transport Focus has been monitoring the impact of delays and disruption on passengers. The latest updates can be found here.
