Transport Focus insight shortlisted for research award
14 October 2021
The insight team at Transport Focus has been shortlisted for ‘in-house team of the year’ at the Market Research Society Awards 2021.
Our entry, Getting back on track – adapting insight to support the transport industry during a pandemic, showcased our response to the challenges of the pandemic. Our traditional face-to-face insight work ground to a halt. At the same time, the transport industry and government needed information to enable them to urgently adapt to the crisis and plan for recovery. The insight team had to find a way to understand experiences throughout the pandemic by completely rethinking the way they worked as a team, creating new agile products, whilst finding ways to maintain our core research work amongst transport users.
Much of the resulting insight can be seen on the coronavirus insight page on our website. The work our team has produced has influenced Government decisions such as the introduction of flexi-season tickets for rail and strengthened Transport Focus’s position in influencing the Williams-Shapps Plan for Rail and the National Bus Strategy.
Chief executive Anthony Smith said: “Now more than ever it is critical that governments and transport operators can tap into how people are feeling about using transport. Our innovative insight team has delivered useful, timely intelligence that has made a real difference to people’s journeys. While the work of the insight team has been recognised within Transport Focus and within the industry, we are pleased to see it reflected externally in this award nomination.”
Winners will be announced at a virtual event on 6 December.
