Christmas is coming

As Christmas travel guidance is published, we are all probably thinking about what, if anything, we might do in the five-day window. A big personal choice for all of us. Our insight showed most people were waiting to see what the Government would say before planning anything.

Some can now go ahead and start booking travel. A substantial minority will do what they are planning regardless of the advice while others will simply do nothing! Clear Government guidance and clear information from the road, bus and rail sectors is crucial. We are pushing for public transport operators to make it easier for passengers by letting them know what is on sale when and how busy services are expected to be.

Transport Focus will be monitoring that information, making suggestions and helping to ensure smooth, reliable journeys.

We also have loads of new work coming up in the build up to Christmas including looking at the student travel window, passenger attitudes to the NHS Covid-19 ‘test and trace’ app, questions around returning to public transport and what difference the vaccine could have. And more – watch this space!

So, whatever your plans, have a safe Christmas and New Year.
