Transport User Voice – February 2021 – Wales-focussed public Board meeting

28 January 2021

How transport can be improved in the future

For our latest Board meeting we took a look at all the work we’ve been doing in Wales. We also had speakers and presentations on what the situation is like currently and how transport in Wales can be improved.

Keynote speaker, transport minister Ken Skates MS, talked about the vision for the future of transport in Wales. He highlighted key aspects of Llwybr Newydd: a new Wales transport strategy.

The session included updates about our work in Wales and a presentation from Transport for Wales on some of its ongoing initiatives such as working with young people.

Members of the public submitted their questions to the minister and our panel members:

  • Scott Pearson from Newport Transport
  • Christine Boston from Sustrans
  • Alexia Course from Transport for Wales.

This led to some lively discussions with questions covering a range of topics from post-Covid recovery, how to encourage modal shift and passengers getting involved in the design of new trains.

Almost 400 stakeholders from Wales and beyond tuned in. You can watch the event here.
