Transport User Voice – January 2017 – West Midlands bus passengers have their say

Around nine in 10 bus passengers in the West Midlands are satisfied with their journey.

This latest result comes from a study of bus passenger satisfaction in the West Midlands earlier this year.

Transport for West Midlands and the West Midlands Bus Alliance were keen to understand where they needed to focus for more satisfied passengers.

The recently-established West Midlands Bus Alliance (chaired by Transport Focus) is the first of its kind in Great Britain. It brings together bus operators, local councils, and other partners to focus on improving passenger journeys.

The Bus Passenger Survey asks passengers to rate all aspects of their bus journey covering key factors such as planning the journey, the facilities and information provided at the bus stop, fares and the helpfulness of the driver.

Responding to the report David Sidebottom, Transport Focus passenger director, said:

“Passengers tell us they want a bus service that is punctual, reliable and offers value for money.

“It’s good to see the West Midlands Bus Alliance continuing to listen to what passengers experience to drive up satisfaction levels.

“However worsening congestion and slower journey times are clearly being felt by passengers and we look forward to working, as part of the alliance, to identify how improvements can be made.”
