Transport User Voice – January 2017 – Improving bus services for passengers in Liverpool

21 December 2016

Transport Focus is helping improve services for bus passengers in Liverpool.

The Liverpool City Region Bus Alliance held its first meeting earlier this year. Transport Focus has a seat on the Alliance Board to speak up for passengers. Working alongside organisations including Merseytravel, Stagecoach and Arriva we will be using our research to help improve the passenger experience throughout the region.

The Bus Alliance has been set up with the aim of providing ‘a thriving, affordable and sustainable bus network that offers the customer a value for money and hassle-free journey experience – leading to fare paying patronage growth’.

Through the use of our annual Bus Passenger Survey results we hope to focus the work of the Alliance on its aim of achieving ‘industry leading customer satisfaction levels’.

This is a great opportunity to work more closely with Liverpool City Region and is a potential model for similar devolved areas. This builds on our work with the West Midlands Bus Alliance where we have successfully promoted the interests of bus passengers in the region.
